Back in early January 2024 we decided to set some goals for the growth of Get with the Program. One of those goals, as a space-adjacent business and Start Up, was to extend our business further into the aerospace industry, to connect with organisations, leaders, and visionaries and to spread the word about our coding adventures and how we aim to inclusively inspire the tech innovators of the future.

Our aspirations were set high, we worked hard, and we're delighted and thrilled to announce that we have been recognised by the UK Civil Aviation Authority and Department for Transport with an amazing opportunity.

Get with the Program is one of only 16 organisations who have been awarded the 'Reach for the Sky Challenge Fund' - a substantial grant to support us, as an outreach partner, on our mission to inspire the next generation of aerospace professionals!

To win this funding we had to show evidence of how we met the following three important criteria:

✅ Inspire the next generation of aerospace professionals, championing the opportunities available in the sector.

✅ Reach individuals who would not otherwise be aware of opportunities available within the aerospace sector.

✅ Have a broad impact by reaching and engaging multiple people.

As delighted recipients of this fund, we are now able to broaden the delivery of our existing Moon Landing Coding Adventure package, so it can be delivered to even more primary school-aged children around the UK - 12,000 in fact!

Our coding adventure is a remotely delivered theatre-in-education event for 5-9 year olds, during which the children learn to design, write, test, and debug algorithms. The adventure consists of an exciting interactive video and fun-filled theme-based follow-on activities. By working with our classic teaching duo of ‘Professor’ Trice and AL the (female) Robot, the children's mission is to program AL to get her safely onto a Saturn V rocket, ready to launch her to the moon! As with all of our coding adventures, 'Moon Landing' has been designed by a teacher, is fully aligned with the computing curriculum and focuses on diversity and inclusivity to smash stereotypes around gender and ethnicity.

Through the funding, we're aiming to reach even more schools and youth groups with children who may not otherwise be aware of career opportunities within the aerospace sector, and give them the fantastic opportunity to see aerospace role models they can relate to!  Indeed, we're aiming for at least 50% of our participants to be from Priority Education Investment Areas (PEIAs)

Will your school or group be one of the 100 who will benefit from this funding? We're looking for nominations so sign up soon before all the schools are allocated! Anyone can nominate a school or group - to find out how, click here: https://www.getwiththeprogram.org.uk/reach-for-the-sky
